Drumma Boy On Beats, Life & Success

Start It Up

The first part of getting started is being inspired. My inspiration came from
Beethoven, Mozart, Sebastian. That was the first pieces of music that I ever
knew. My dad is in an orchestra first chair, clarinets, in the Memphis Symphony
Orchestra and pretty much influenced that into me and my older brother played
keys for Three 6 Mafia as well as coming up in the city of Memphis, that’s strictly
a music city of all genres, so I was just brought into the world of music.

Tools of Success

I am making beats on MPC 4000. I’m using Logic. I’m using Protools, any
internet random free bass sounds, man I do it all! Live sounds, live musicians. I’m
making beats on anything that produces a sound. To me, it’s all about versatility.

Words from the Wise

The best advice on the music side that I ever received came from Master P. He
gave me the motivation and enlightenment of understanding your own value and
understanding your worth.

Your Biggest Accomplishment

Personally to myself, I would say is retiring my mom and my father. It’s done.
That’s priceless to me.

To The Future Producers of America

Change the game. That should be your goal. If you change the game they are
going to remember you.

Advantages Of Having A Background In Music

It’s like being able to write with the left hand and right hand. That’s something I
learned in an artistic world. For me it, it was more about the homeschooling. My
dad put me thru so much intense homeschooling, so really it all depends on who
your teacher is. Some people need school to teach them; some people just need a
teacher.

Drum-Squad Records

We trying to move units. We’ve created the brand, we got the buzz, we built the
team, we got the empire. We’ve done everything in the book, now we gotta move
the units, but we still in our artist development phase and our mixtape phase. I
dropped my first solo Rap mixtape last year, and I got a young artist from Mobile,
Alabama named Young Blue, the kid is crazy!! I’m excited about working with
him, his first project is coming up August 21st called “Hello World,” so I’m
looking forward to that under Drum-Squad.

On The Boards

I’m involved in some production projects, really excited about those.
I’ve been working on the 2 Chainz project that drops August 14th, stay
tuned for that. I got some really cool records with T.I., I do a lot of stuff with
Chris Brown, and I’ve done a lot on Wiz Khalifa’s album about 3-4 tracks on that
project.
