17-Year-Old Claressa Shields Wins Gold In Women’s Boxing

U.S.’s Claressa Shields put on a stunning performance defeating Russia’s Nadezda Torlopova, who’s nearly twice her age (33-years-old), in a 19-12 victory taking home the Olympic gold medal in women’s boxing.

Shields, who’s only 17 years of age, became the only member of the 12-person U.S. women’s team to earn a gold medal in London as well as becoming the youngest female boxer to compete in the games.
