2012 was a buzz-building year for 17-year old Brooklyn-bred MC Joey Bada$ $ . From the release of his critically-acclaimed mixtape, 1999, and later Rejex, a collection of tracks that didn’t make the earlier tape, Bada$ $ , along with the rest of his Pro Era collective, successfully sought to bring back the boom-bap sound and lyrical style of hip-hop’s golden era. All this hard work came to a culmination on Dec. 21 with the release of both the PEEP: The aPROcalypse mixtape, and a Stussy/Pro Era collaborative t-shirt. The limited-edition shirt features the P.E. roster on the back and a photograph of select few across the front. HYPETRAK TV caught up with Bada$ $ and Co. at the official launch party for the piece as they made an appearance and held a meet-a-greet for fans inside Stussy’s NYC flagship store. As a tragic sidenote, this was one of Pro Era’s most prominent members final public appearance. 19-year old MC Capital Steez passed away only a few days later. Watch the complete conversation above and if you haven’t yet, cop The aPROcalypse tape here. Rest in Power Capital STEEZ.
