(Brown on his Old album)
By Maurice Bobb
To the media outlets reporting that Danny Brown fixed his signature chipped tooth smile, the jokes on you. According to reports, the Old MC recently got dental reconstruction surgery courtesy of KFC, who was indirectly associated with the incident that led to the loss of his two front teeth, but the Detroit rhyme slayer took to Twitter Monday (October 21) morning to deny the reports.
“I ain’t got my damn teeth fixed … Y’all resharded,” Danny tweeted this morning.
As the story goes, the “Gremlins” MC damaged his incisors as a kid when he was struck by a vehicle in a KFC parking lot, allegedly prompting the fried chicken chain to foot the $ 2,200 bill for a new grill.
“I was a little kid,” Danny told Detroit Metro Times back in 2011. “I was riding my homeboy’s bike, back when I was staying off Gratiot. And this IROC-Z pulled out of a KFC parking lot and I didn’t see it. I got hit by the car head-on. That’s how I lost my teeth the first time. But I got ‘em fixed! Parents paid for it and everything, I was good. Dawg, like a month later, I’m playing in the house, I fell and chipped a tooth on the table leg. I’m like, ‘Damn!’ Didn’t get it fixed, then was playing basketball a couple of years later, and a nigga came down with an elbow and chipped the other tooth. So I had two, big ass chipped teeth. The shit started deteriorating, and one day I was eating a big piece of chicken, and the shits just came out.”
Spankin’ new porcelain veneers or not, Brown’s Old album landed at No. 17 on the Billboard 200, moving 15,000 units during its first week, so it’s likely that the Don King-haired emcee will still be able to get more onstage sexual gratification in the future.
